The Doctoral program promotes and facilitates international cooperation also through the organization of research stays for PhD students at foreign Universities and Institutions, as well as the holding of seminars with foreign professors, including in online mode. Furthermore, it aims to establish agreements with foreign Universities defining the modalities of cooperation, the possible awarding of a joint or double PhD degree, and the undertaking of doctoral theses under joint supervision.
Following the pandemic crisis, doctoral mobility has increased. 
With reference to the 36th cycle, it is noted that two-thirds of the PhD students carried out research activities at foreign Universities.
With reference to the 37th cycle, it is noted that over 80% of the PhD students carried out or are carrying out research activities at foreign Universities.
With reference to the 38th cycle, two-thirds of the Doctoral candidates are carrying out or will carry out research activities at foreign Universities.
With reference to the 39th cycle, all Doctoral candidates will carry out research activities at foreign Universities.
The international dimension is achieved through the establishment of cooperation agreements with Universities, Higher Education Institutions, and Research Centers in other countries, as well as through the signing of Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreements, aimed at fostering doctoral mobility and ensuring the highest research standards.
